Why Bethesda’s Starfield is an inevitable disappointment

People used to the open world video game hype cycle are probably more jaded to the reality

Why are these massive open world games always an inevitable disappointment?

Starfield from Bethesda got its launch trailer today and a lot of people are very excited.

But I think people used to the open world video game hype cycle are probably more jaded to the reality of what these games tend to offer

The last time I tried one of these was Cyberpunk 2077 and after a few hours I gave up and re-read Neuromancer instead. So my guess is that Starfield will just make me want to read Asimov and Banks and all the other original storytelling these games plagiarise and pillage in their “worldbuilding”.
